Review | Marc Jacobs Beauty Air Blush Soft Duo: One Week Later
Let me tell you, when I read Or's first impressions I was giddy to try these out for myself. The swatches looked absolutely beautiful and the idea of my two favorite products (blush and highlight) in one compact was more than I could handle. Unfortunately, like most things in life, these didn't live up to my expectations.
Swirl. NGL, the stripes threw me off. Also, these blushes aren't very pigmented so don't worry about picking up too much product on your brush. Feel free to swirl or swipe back and forth- several times. The texture is lovely on the brush- no detectable chunks or particles. It's almost like a light wash over the bristles. The powder is very finely milled and does feel as light as air on the skin. Check your brush to make sure the color is evenly distributed. Just don't swipe up and down, unless you want to wear the blush as it's packaged. ;P
Don't wear this over naked skin. These colors are all cool-toned, so over my naked face, it made me look like I had rosacea. The light reflecting pigments that work for highlight, only seemed to accentuate my uneven skin texture. I tried to layer this over my Glosser Skin Tint, but that didn't seem to be enough. I finally layered this over my MUFE Foundation Stick, and that did the trick. You'll definitely want to start off with a nice base of foundation for these guys.
Cool for the summer. Every blush in this collection is cool-toned (see swatches) and my yellow undertones don't love that. Unlike a matte cool-toned blush, like Nars Desire ($30) the very satin-y finish in the Airblushes don't do me any favors at all by showing off every bump and pore on my cheeks.
Which one of these is not like the others? The colors are way too similar. I took these all out for a test drive this past week and I couldn't tell the difference between them once they were on.
Long-wearing. Lines & Last Night was the only shade I wore for a full day of errands, and it surprisingly lasted the whole day. But not pretty enough (on me at least!) for it to matter.
Final Verdict: If you're into satin blushes, I'd maybe give these a shot. The color selection isn't very innovative, so I'm almost certain that you already have something very similar in your arsenal. Overall, these were underwhelming and I say that with a very heavy heart.
Who's tried these and loved them?? Let me know in the comments!
