Review | Glossier Supers Serums Are The Contingency Plan You Want and Need
We function on the assumption that our learned behaviors will lead us down the right path. Most of the time they do! We don’t rest our hands on your face after fondling a particularly crispy batch of home fries. We don’t wash our faces with dishwashing detergent. Hell, we don’t even own suntan oil anymore! Sometimes life gets in the way as it is wont to do— You’ll fall asleep with a full face of clown makeup, drink too much coffee, or just find that exfoliating isn’t doing the trick. Contingency plans are essential.
Glossier Supers are a series of serums (think of them as stratagems) that work like a panic button. They come in Super Pure, Super Bounce, Super Glow to combat zits, thirst, and dullness, in that order. Listen to your skin and make rescue serum cocktails with them at your leisure. For example: Pure/Bounce after Burning Man. Bounce/Glow for no makeup days. Glow/Pure for a third date. Use all three for insurmountably high self-esteem. Qian did a comprehensive review of Super Glow that you should read here. I tried them all. Here’s my memorandum.
A wide range of viscosities
They all had very different textures! Super Glow is thin and watery. Super Pure has a very familiar serum feeling. Super Bounce had the most girth and felt like a gel moisturizer.
I’ve never been one for serum use because usually by the time my lotion is on, I’ve forgotten I meant to insert another step. Plus, waiting for the results is laborious, and I figure I can always catch up tomorrow. (The thing about tomorrow is that it is a relative term and never actually comes, but I digress.) What makes the Supers different are that they work nearly immediately. You can feel Super Bounce hydration just a few minutes after applying it. The hyaluronic acid sources moisture from its surroundings and pulls it to the surface of your skin. Super Pure calms redness in a matter of just a few hours. Super Glow’s results can be seen overnight. Have you ever seen the way that lemon juice will stop an apple slice from turning into a hideous morsel of rot? That’s what the Vitamin C does here.
To my liking
Each has an eyelet dropper to dispense product into your hand, so you don’t run the risk of cross contaminating. The bottles are pastel, some frosted, some not, and look lovely set on a perch in your washroom.

Sensitive skin types can feel at comfort to use these. I’d recommend saving the Super Glow for the evening as I suspect there’s a correlation between Vitamin C, sunlight and its efficacy, considering that bottle is most opaque. Otherwise, these puppies are scentless and very minimal when it comes to the ingredients.
We have good skin days and bad skin days. Keep this arsenal at hand and you’ll make sure the good skin days inch closer and closer together.
